Introduction

Memory Lane ("we", "us", or "our") is a baby milestone tracker that helps parents capture and cherish their child's developmental journey. We are deeply committed to protecting your privacy and your family's data.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our service.

Information We Collect

1. Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address (for account authentication)
  • Display name (optional)
  • Google account information (if you sign in with Google)

2. Baby & Household Information

To provide personalized milestone tracking, we collect:

  • Baby's name and birth date (or due date for pregnancy tracking)
  • Milestone entries (developmental achievements, notes, dates)
  • Photos and videos attached to milestones
  • Voice recordings (temporarily processed for transcription using your browser, then discarded)

3. Google Photos Integration

When you connect your Google Photos account:

  • What we request: Read-only access to select photos via the Google Photos Picker API (scope: photospicker.mediaitems.readonly)
  • What happens to selected photos: When you attach a photo to a milestone, we download a copy from Google Photos, resize it for optimal storage, and upload it to our secure storage. The resized photo is then permanently stored in our system.
  • What we store:
    • OAuth refresh token (encrypted)
    • Your Google account email
    • Resized copies of photos you explicitly select and attach to milestones
  • What we DON'T access: We cannot browse or access your entire Google Photos library. We can only see photos you explicitly select through the picker interface. We never access other Google services (Gmail, Drive, etc.).
  • Disconnection: You can disconnect Google Photos at any time in Settings. This will revoke our access, but previously imported photos will remain in your Memory Lane account unless you delete them.

4. Technical & Usage Data

  • Device information (browser type, operating system)
  • IP address and general location (for security and analytics)
  • Usage analytics (features used, performance metrics via Vercel Analytics)
  • Error logs (to improve service reliability)

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide the service: Track milestones, display your timeline, detect developmental patterns
  • AI-powered summaries: Generate weekly and monthly summaries of your child's milestones using Anthropic's AI (processes only your milestone entries, not photos or videos)
  • Voice transcription: Convert voice notes to text using your browser's built-in speech recognition (processed locally, not sent to servers)
  • Milestone detection: Identify developmental milestones using rule-based patterns (no AI involved)
  • Multi-parent collaboration: Share household data with parents you invite (up to 4 parents per household)
  • Security: Authenticate users, prevent fraud, and protect accounts
  • Communication: Send important service updates (we minimize emails)
  • Improvement: Analyze usage patterns to enhance features and fix bugs

Data Storage & Security

Where your data is stored:

  • Database & file storage: Supabase (PostgreSQL with encryption at rest)
  • Photos/videos: Supabase Storage (encrypted, access-controlled)
  • Hosting: Vercel (edge network for fast, secure delivery)
  • AI processing: Anthropic Claude (milestone summaries only, no photos or recordings)

Security measures:

  • End-to-end HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
  • Row-Level Security (RLS) policies ensuring parents only access their own household data
  • OAuth tokens encrypted with AES-256
  • Regular security audits and vulnerability scanning
  • Automatic soft-delete cascades (deleted profiles trigger deletion of their entries)

Data Sharing

We do NOT sell or rent your data.

We only share your information in these limited cases:

  • With household members you invite: Parents in your household can view shared baby profiles and milestones
  • Service providers:
    • Supabase (database & storage) - bound by Data Processing Agreement
    • Vercel (hosting) - bound by Data Processing Agreement
    • Anthropic (milestone summaries only) - bound by Data Processing Agreement
  • Legal obligations: If required by law, court order, or to protect rights and safety
